Dulbecco's MEM (DMEM)

Dulbecco’s modified media are widely used to support the growth of a broad spectrum of mammalian cells. It contains a four-fold increase in the concentration of the amino acids and vitamins found in Eagle’s basal medium (BME). DME media were originally developed to be used with a serum supplement in a 10 % CO₂-atmosphere for the cultivation of non-transformed mouse and chicken cells. In the medium, the concentration of vitamins and amino acids is compared to MEM four times higher and completed by non-essential amino acids (NEA), trace elements, and bicarbonate.

Different from the standard formulation: DMEM/Ham's F-12
