Raw FBS imported from Australia is thawed under standardised conditions after inspection and release by quality control and sterile filtered via a multi-stage filter cascade. For industrial customers, lot sizes up to 2,000 l are feasible, as well as direct shipments to Asia and America. In addition to the sterility check in accordance with the European Pharmacopoeia, the test for bovine viruses is implemented.
In addition, the following has now been tested successfully: "Australian FBS from Biochrom AG is suitable for murine embryonic stem cells. The stem cells demonstrated high viability (85-91 %, depending on the batch) and very good proliferation in the MTT assay", explains Sabine Riekenberg, PH.
